Comedian Amy Schumer Tackles Self Confidence in New Comedy ‘I Feel Pretty'

What to Know

  • Comedian Amy Schumer has always been known as someone who doesn’t have a problem sharing her opinions and feeling comfortable with herself.

Comedian Amy Schumer has always been known as someone who doesn’t have a problem sharing her opinions and feeling comfortable with who she is – but another side is on display with her character in the new comedy I Feel Pretty.

“Playing the scenes where I feel really bad about myself, that was hard for me,” Schumer told NBC 6 while in South Florida promoting the film. “It was easier to play ‘Sasha Fierce’.”

Most women have a little Fierce inside of them, but also have the other side where they doubt themselves and Amy is hoping you’ll gain some confidence.

“It was actually kind of fun to go back and forth because that’s what we do as women: feel awful.”

Amy reveals what it’s like to be a woman - but before you judge and think this comedy is just another chick flick, think again!

“I’m not necessarily a guy that has game,” said Rory Scovel, who plays Ethan in the movie. “Men also have insecurities, I think that being the point of the movie to point out how we all have insecurities”

Confidence is something that sounds like it’s easy to get but yet many strive to gain a little bit of it. The romantic comedy will make you laugh, but most importantly will make you feel good about yourself in the inside.

“That’s all we want: people to see this and feel better about themselves,” Schumer said.

So leave the spanks at home and go watch I Feel Pretty which is in theaters Friday.
