Community Gathers to Honor Woman Killed Outside Home

Family and friends gathered on Wednesday to remember a young woman who was shot and killed in northwest Miami-Dade.

As police continue to search for 24-year-old Precious Jackson's killers, the community came together to support her family.

Family, friends, local leaders and several Miami Gardens Police officers held hands in prayer inside New Beginnings Church to help the family get through this difficult time.

Jackson was gunned down outside her house last Thursday along Northwest 84th Street and 24th Avenue in West Little River.

She was coming home from working as a manager at Checkers when she was killed.

"I'm trying to be strong for her because I know that's what she'd want me to do, to help find her killer. The way that they shot her, she didn't deserve that," said Jackson's mother, Tesha Green.

The church has helped the family financially with the cost of Jackson's funeral. A small memorial of candles and stuffed animals also sits outside the church.

Miami-Dade Police haven't named any suspects in the crime.
