Community Remembers Teen Girl Fatally Shot by Brother

A heartbroken Florida City community gathered Thursday to remember a 13-year-old girl whose life was cut short in her home.

Tedra King was shot and killed by her brother Martaviius Santiago, 17, who was playing with a gun. Her sibling was charged with manslaughter.

Tedra's mother was too distraught to talk as she was overcome by a sea of tears at Thursday's vigil.

The teen girl's biological father and stepdad attended the vigil and shared grief.

"It's tremendous the support. It's like amazing, I didn't think she had this much love. I appreciate the community coming out," said Tedrick King, the victim's father.

This is not the first time this family has been gripped by gun violence. Last year, Santiago was shot outside of his home and police say he's been in trouble with the law before. However, the grieving family says this was all a mistake.

"I don't agree with him being charged. He loved his sister," said Vernon Williams, the victim's stepfather.
