Concern After Van Slams Into Building Near Cory Booker Event

Concern arose after a vehicle slammed into a building near a South Florida campaign event by New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, who has been repeatedly threatened.

The Miami Gardens Police Department said there was no connection between the crash and the event that occurred at the Miami Soul Cafe located at 16194 NW 27th Ave.

Police said a passenger in that vehicle was transported to the hospital. The building was not evacuated.

Booker's event centered on the issue of voting rights. Booker spoke about how Florida voters last year passed an amendment to restore voting rights to some convicted felons.

Booker criticized a recent measure that would force the felons to pay fees before being able to vote.
