Construction to ease the flow of traffic and goods at the Miami International Airport's cargo facilities was set to begin on Monday.
Work will include widening of nw 25th Street over the north line canal, adding a third westbound lane from NW 82nd Ave. to NW 87 Ave, new signals, street lighting and landscaping.
The project cost is estimated at $58.5 million and will last about three-and-a-half years.
During construction there will be two lanes of traffic open in each direction (bothwest and eastbound) from the Palmetto Expressway to 89th Court, as well as reduced lanes on several avenues including 79th, 82nd, 84th and 87th north and south of NW 25th Street.
There will also be road closures Sunday to Saturday from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and detours whenever necessary.
Officials said drivers are being urged to use alternate routes including NW 12th Street and NW 33rd Street, and they should allow for extra time when driving in the area.
