All Lanes Reopen After Construction Incident on I-75 NB at Sawgrass Expy

A portion of I-75 northbound was closed Monday due to a construction incident on an overpass.

It happened around 4 p.m. where the I-75 meets the Sawgrass Expressway.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a new bridge is being constructed, and a piece of equipment that was making the new ramp above Sawgrass, fell onto two pickup trucks. Aerial footage showed a metal object pushing against the railing of the overpass.

Officials with the crew conducting the project said "a temporary bracing being used as part of construction fell from the new connect bridge from 75 express to 595 express." They said this was not a failure of the new bridge or collapse.

All four lanes of I-75 were closed to traffic for most of the day, and reopened around 10 p.m. after crews were able to make the necessary repairs with a crane.

No injuries were reported.
