Convicted Killer Retracts Confession in 2013 Hollywood Slaying

A convicted Florida killer who pleaded guilty last year in a purported murder-for-hire plot has retracted his confession and won't testify in a related trial.

Last October, 36-year-old Bobby Cook admitted to killing Pamela Chamberlain in Hollywood and was scheduled to testify Tuesday in the case against 38-year-old Sherard Adams. Adams is accused of hiring Cook to kill Chamberlain, his former girlfriend.

The Sun-Sentinel reports that Cook handed a judge a letter saying he had nothing to do with Chamberlain's 2013 killing and agreed to a plea deal in hopes of avoiding a life prison sentence. Cook says he will not testify against Adams.

Jurors in the Adams case were sent home Tuesday with trial to resume next week.

Cook is to be sentenced later this month.
