Police looking for family of 55-year-old killed by train Monday in Fort Lauderdale

Police have identified the man who was struck and killed by a Tri-Rail train in Fort Lauderdale Monday.

George Edward Porter, 55, was struck by the commuter train around 7:15 a.m. in the area of Sunrise Boulevard and Northwest 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale Police said.

Porter, who was trying to cross the CSX tracks, was killed at the scene.

Police are trying to find the family of the Pompano Beach man, who also is known by the aliases George Jones, Ivory Thomas and David Jones, police said.
