Couple's Wedding Salvaged After Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma's aftermath is still causing headaches for couples planning weddings weeks after it directly impacted Florida.

Such couples had to scramble to reschedule their big day, including Nikki Herson and Dan Cohen from Washington, D.C.

The couple planned to wed at the Ocean Reef Resort in Key Largo this weekend, but rough surf left the venue too damaged to host their nuptials.

"We were just like 'OK, next. Plan B.' We're both Type A people where there's a Plan A and Plan B and we're going to roll with the punches either way. We were ready to do whatever we needed to do to get married," Herson said.

The couple credits their wedding planner Andi Dyal of ANJÉ Soirées with finding the perfect backup option in the Faena Hotel on Miami Beach.

Their wedding is one of 10 events Dyal said she had to reschedule and re-plan from scratch before Nov 5.

"We just tried to work really quickly and make this all happen as efficiently, productively and perfectly as possible," Dyal said.

Hotels and properties that stepped in to accommodate couples who had weddings planned at the Ocean Reef Resort are Vizcaya, SLS Brickell, the Delano, Surfcomber and Shore Club.

The Faena Hotel came to Nikki and Dan's rescue.

"Everyone wanted to match prices, wanted to make it easy to make another room block. Because it's not just about getting a new venue, it's changing the design, it's finding rooms for your guests, changing your rehearsal dinner while maintaining the same time, date and a similar location," Dyal said.

The couple invited 100 guests to their wedding on Saturday. They say they can't wait to tie the knot and hopefully go to Bali on a honeymoon next year.
