Police shut down a major Broward County road after an incident Friday morning that sent one woman to the hospital.
Officers responded to the scene on University Drive just south of Stirling Road in Davie just after 6 a.m. Police and Fire Rescue crews could be seen investigating the scene.
Davie Police officials say the woman, Marrykutty George, was crossing University Drive when she was struck by a vehicle, which fled the scene. George was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition with several broken bones and bleeding on her brain.
Police say George was walking to work at a nearby Subway when she was hit.
Officials say they are searching for a sliver car, possibly a Nissan, with damage to the right front side - including a broken headlight - and are looking for surveillance video from area businesses that could help in their search.
