Credit Card Skimmer Found at Miramar Gas Station

Miramar Police are investigating after a skimming device was found on a fuel pump at a gas station.

The discovery was made at the Shell station at 3500 Red Road during a routine inspection by the Department of Agriculture.

Police said the use of skimming devices is increasing, especially at gas stations located near highways.

Thieves typically place the device behind the card reader or keypad on a gas pump. The device stores the cardholder's data, and the information is sold or used to clone the card.

Anyone who spots one can call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
