The Critical Mass bicycle ride will take over Miami’s streets once more Friday evening. Drivers should expect heavy traffic and delays.
The event starts at 7:15 p.m. in downtown Miami, going through Overtown, Wynwood, Little Haiti, North Bay Village and Miami Beach.
The route is 20-miles long and loops north through Wynwood and Little Haiti. The ride then heads east crossing onto the JFK Causeway, heading south to Miami Beach. It loops back and passes through the Venetian Causeway before returning to downtown Miami.
The free event happens on the last Friday of the month. It was created to raise awareness of cycle safety.
The City of Miami Police will not be escorting the Miami Critical Mass ride.
If you plan to take part in the bike ride, remember that consuming alcohol during the ride is illegal, so is wearing headphones. Riders are required by law to have safety lights on their bikes and must stay in the right lane while yielding to pedestrians, buses and emergency vehicles. Cyclists must also obey all safety laws.
