Crooks Break Into 26 Cars in Northeast Miami-Dade

Cameras were rolling as at least three crooks were going car to car just before 5 a.m. Sunday morning in Northeast Miami-Dade.

The men were seen busting out windows and rummaging through cars and taking whatever they could grab.

The incidents happened at three separate apartment complexes. One at the 800 block of Northest 195th Street. Another at the 18800 block of Northeast 3rd Court and another at the 700 block of Northeast 195th Street.

“I feel sad. It’s amazing. I’m a hard worker and somebody else comes and gives you this type of damage,” said Jose Netto, a victim.

Netto lives at the Canon Gate complex on Northeast 195th Street, where detectives tell NBC6 that 14 cars were smashed. 12 others were hit at neighboring condos.

Investigators said there was a security guard on duty, but he was being watched. As soon as the guard drove away, the crooks moved in.

“I was surprised because one car is okay. But not 14 cars,” said Netto.

Netto said the early bird burglars could have been caught in the act, which could have made for a dangerous encounter. But, he’s glad no one was hurt.

"If we catch you there at the same time, then it’s going to be a problem,” said Netto.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
