Cruise Ship Returns to Miami After Passenger Dies

21-year-old dies after allergic reaction to food on Norwegian's Epic

A cruise ship was forced to return to Miami after a passenger died after suffering an allergic reaction to food.

The 21-year-old passenger died aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line's Epic ship Saturday, just hours after it began a seven-day trip through the Caribbean.

The ship, which holds as many as 4,100 passengers, returned to the Port of Miami early Sunday.

No foul play is suspected in the man's death, according to the FBI.

Norwegian issued a statement Sunday, saying the unidentified victim died of a heart attack some 40 nautical miles from Miami.

"Norwegian Cruise Line extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the guest's family during this difficult time," the statement read.
