Dad, 6-Month-Old Baby Found After Dad Took Baby Following Fight with Mom: Homestead PD

Homestead Police say they've located a man who was accused of taking his infant daughter and leaving following a fight with the child's mother.

Police say 31-year-old Solomon Brown took 6-month-old Niveyah Brown from the apartment he shares with her mom in the 200 block of Southwest 14th Avenue.

Brown and the mother of his child got into a fight Wednesday night between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., after which Brown ran off with the baby, police say.

Brown and the baby were found at a nearby gas station Thursday morning. Niveyah is safe and with police and will soon be reunited with her mother.

Both Brown and the child's mother are being questioned by police.

Brown's mother, who did not wish to be shown on camera, told NBC 6 that her soon took Niveyah to his sister's house and to a park. She says that the infant was never in any danger.

"He loves that baby," she said. "He wouldn't do nothing to hurt that baby."

Niveyah's mother, identified by friends simply as Alexis, did not wish to elaborate on the fight, but said she just wanted her baby returned home safely.

"I just want my baby home. He's not a bad dad," she said through tears. "I know she's safe, I just want them home."
