Davie Shoplifting Suspects Used Baby Stroller, Crashed Getaway Car: Police

Shoplifting suspects who were caught on camera loading up a baby stroller with stolen merchandise at a Davie Best Buy were arrested after crashing their car while trying to flee officers, police said.

Davie Police said Marcelous Thomas and Sheronnye Pendergrass were in the Best Buy at the Tower Shops at 2200 S. University Drive Monday when they began loading up the baby stroller with stolen items.

Surveillance video shows that when the two women tried to leave the shop, they were confronted by a loss prevention officer, who tried to stop them.

Officers at the scene also tried to stop the women, who were able to get into a car with a third suspect, Donald Carter, police said. They crashed into three other cars as they fled but were able to get out of the parking lot, police said.

After fleeing police at a high rate of speed, they crashed into the entrance of a nearby neighborhood, officials said. The video shows the car crashing and the suspects running out but police said they were all taken into custody.

The three are facing charges including grand theft, aggravated fleeing, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to property.
