Surveillance Video Shows Davie Hotel Clerk Struggling With Armed Robber

Police are looking for an armed, masked robber who was caught on camera struggling and fighting with an employee behind the counter at a hotel in Davie.

The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at the Woodspring Suites at 5700 Reese Road, according to the Davie Police Department.

Shocking surveillance video released Wednesday shows the male subject, wearing a black hoodie with half of his face covered, walking into the hotel lobby and jumping over the counter with a gun and grabbing the female clerk.

Police said he first demanded that she open the safe, but since employees do not have access to the combination, he then demanded that she open the register.

The employee and the robber struggle for almost five minutes, police said. He's seen on surveillance footage struggling to cover her mouth. A hotel guest is seen walking down the hallway and the employee starts screaming for help. The robber then jumps over the counter and flees.

Mike White, the guest who is seen in the video passing by the attack, was taking out the trash when he witnessed the tail end of the robbery.

"I was just more shocked something like that was happening," he said.

Police said the suspect is believed to be a black male in his 20's, with a medium build between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-1.

Anyone with information is urged to call Davie police at 954-693-8200 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
