Father Shoots Kids' Stepfather to Death Outside Tamarac Home: BSO

What to Know

  • Chopper footage showed Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators outside the home off Northwest 69th Avenue and 69th Court.

A father of two is facing a first-degree murder charge after authorities say he shot and killed his kids' stepfather outside a home in Tamarac Monday morning.

Ryan Inmon, 30, shot and killed 28-year-old Tavaris Phillips outside the home in the 6800 block of Northwest 69th Court, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

The shooting happened around 5:40 a.m. Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inmon was taken into custody in Pompano Beach about two hours after the shooting.

Officials said Inmon has had previous incidents with the mother of his children.

A family member of the victim, Adrian McLemore, told NBC 6 said that Phillips, his son, was killed after an argument over a small child.

"He was taking the child to get surgery...the father came up and shot him in the back," McLemore claimed, not addressing what the fight was about but added that the child's mother was inside their home at the time of the shooting.

The child was not injured in the shooting. BSO detectives are still investigating the shooting.
