A Florida police officer is accused of possession and distribution of child pornography.
Federal prosecutors said in a news release that 34-year-old Matthew Enhoffer was arrested Thursday in St. Petersburg, where he is a police officer. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
The criminal complaint says someone using the screen name "thehoff727" distributed child porn on Snapchat. The IP address was linked to Enhoffer's residence.
Investigators used a search warrant to seize several electronic devices. The complaint says Enhoffer's cellphone had a collection of child porn images and videos including children under 12 in bondage, being raped and forced to perform sex acts.
St. Petersburg police placed Enhoffer on administrative leave without pay.
The Tampa Bay Times reports Enhoffer received the department's highest honor in 2015, the "Medal of Valor," after he saved another officer during a shooting.
