Dee Gordon Plates Game Winner as Marlins Edge Mets

Dee Gordon knocked in Miami's only run in its 1-0 win over the Mets on Tuesday

The Miami Marlins beat the New York Mets 1-0 on Tuesday with Dee Gordon bringing home the game's only run.

Gordon's single in the third inning knocked in Adeiny Hechavarria and Miami's pitching staff made that run stand up. Gordon has had a great spring and appears to be ready for the start of the 2016 regular season. The defending National League batting champion is hitting .271 on the spring and has three runs batted in.

In total, Miami had six hits while playing mostly its regular lineup in the road contest. The only member of the lineup who did not play was Christian Yelich as Miami opted to give at-bats to Derek Dietrich instead. Dietrich is expected to be on the roster, but has struggled to pick up hits all spring long.

Martin Prado had himself a fine day with two hits including his second double of the spring. Prado may hit behind Giancarlo Stanton on some days and his impact will determine how many pitches Stanton sees to hit. Prado could ultimately be one of Miami's most important players in 2016 due to this.

Stanton struggled in this one going 0-4 with three strikeouts. The slugger has been hitting well in the spring and this just appears to be a blip on the radar. With a few games left on the exhibition schedule, there is still time for Stanton to enter the season on a high note.

On the mound for this one was a bevy of relievers and roster hopefuls. Chris Narveson is likely destined for the role of depth in AAA, but pitched well in the start. The veteran tossed three shutout innings and only allowed two hits. Dustin McGowan, Paul Clemens, Brad Hand and Cody Ege would all follow with six combined perfect innings of work.

The Marlins will host the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday in their final game at Roger Dean Stadium this spring.
