Disney World to Allow Guests to Purchase Extra Fast Passes

Walt Disney World is offering a new way for guests to personalize their vacations by allowing them to purchase additional fast passes.

Guests staying in a club level room, at the Wilderness Lodge Cabins or the Polynesian Bungalows will be eligible to purchase the extra fast passes, so long as they have purchased a 3-day or longer park pass or an annual pass, according to a Walt Disney World Resort spokesperson.

The extra passes, which cost $50 per person, per day, will give each guest three fast passes, in addition to the fast passes park guests are already allotted through the parks FastPass + program. The extra fast passes will be able to be reserved 90 days in advance, as opposed to the traditional 60 days in advance, through the park's My Disney Experience app.

The program will also offer preferred seating at one of the park’s nighttime spectaculars. The seating will be allotted once per day and are available at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios.

Many theme park enthusiasts on social media have said this is a bad idea, saying this will make for longer lines and reduce available fastpasses. However, a Disney spokesperson said that there are such few passes available for purchase that it will not affect the guest experience.

For those interested in booking these extra fast passes, guests must first have booked a club level room at one of the resorts, a cabin at the Wilderness Lodge or a bungalow at the Polynesian. A Walt Disney World Resort cast member will then reach out to the guests to ask if they are interested in purchasing the additional fast passes.

The Walt Disney World Resort spokesperson said this is a limited pilot program and are offering new programs and experiences based on what guests are asking for, which include ways  to customize their vacations.

Walt Disney World Resort begins offering the added theme park perk on Friday.
