A Miami-Dade man who police say fatally shot his wife in front of the couple's children during a fight Tuesday afternoon was arrested in Georgia and transported to a Miami-Dade jail Monday evening.
Donald Edward Strange, 59, was charged with one count of second degree murder two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm.
Miami-Dade Police had been looking for Strange after he allegedly fought with his wife, pulled a gun out and shot her in the chest at their home in the 5300 block of Northwest 30th Place.
The shooting, according to police, happened in front of the couple’s 13 and 11-year-old children. The 11-year-old child allegedly called 911 following the incident.
His wife, 46-year-old Hazel Strange, was taken to Ryder Trauma Center where she later died, police said.
Police said Strange fled the scene in a 2010 maroon colored Honda Accord. Police said he was considered armed and dangerous.
Strange was later found at a family member's home in Georgia. He was brought back to Miami-Dade's Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center to face charges Monday evening. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
The children are currently in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
