Drive-By Shooting Injures Child, Adults in SW Miami-Dade

A drive-by shooting left one child and some adults injured in southwest Miami-Dade, according to police.

Neighbors told NBC 6 that the shooting took place around 2 a.m. near the intersection of Southwest 118th Avenue and 220th Street, saying they heard as many as five shots during the incident.

“I literally jumped on my little one and shielded him because it was crazy and then we heard screaming," said Gail Bess, who lives in the area. "I heard my neighbor call me and when my neighbor called me I just ran out the house."

The Miami-Dade Police Department said the child was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital South in stable condition. The adults, also taken to the same hospital, are in critical condition.

Officials have not said how many adults were among the injured at this time and have not released details on what led to the shooting.
