Driver Hospitalized, to be Arrested After Car Crashes Into Northeast Miami-Dade Home

A family in Northeast Miami-Dade got a rude awakening when a car slammed into their home early Tuesday morning - with the driver being hospitalized and facing arrest.

Miami-Dade Police and rescue crews arrived at the scene near Northeast 113th Terrace and 12th Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. after the car hit the home near the living room area.

The home’s owner told police investigators he heard a noise and someone crying before coming out of his room and seeing the crash scene. Neither he nor the two other people inside at the time were hurt.

Crews took the driver to an area hospital with investigators saying he stopped before accelerating into the home. Officials did not idenitfy the driver, but said he will be arrested for driving under the influence.
