Driver Sought After Man Killed in Pompano Beach Hit-and-Run

Broward Sheriff's Office officials said 61-year-old Henry Zukowski was struck by two cars in the 1100 block of East Copans Road

A daughter is speaking out as authorities work to find the driver who struck and killed her father then fled the scene in Pompano Beach last month.

Broward Sheriff's Office officials said 61-year-old Henry Zukowski was struck by two cars in the 1100 block of East Copans Road around 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 25. The first driver fled, but the second stayed. Zukowski died from his injuries.

"I understand that whoever hit my father must've been so scared. That's probably why they ran," daughter Megan Zukowski told reporters Thursday.

BSO detectives said they're looking for a metallic dark grey 2014 or 2015 Honda Civic that looks like it has been in a crash. The car should also have cameras on its side mirrors.

"At this point in the investigation we are still looking for the public's help," Det. Sean Williams said. "We've had some Crime Stoppers tips come forward, unfortunately we have yet to locate the subject vehicle or the subject driver."

The victim's family is hoping someone will come forward.

"My family can’t start to move on without knowing what happened and why and why nobody came forward yet, it's not right," Megan Zukowski said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
