An early morning fire at an Opa-locka restaurant did serious damage to the inside of the building.
Crews responded to the La Romana Café, located at 13880 NW 27th Avenue shortly before 5 AM Thursday morning. Witnesses say the fire started small and quickly grew and spread.
Fire fighters had to evacuate the building due to a weak roof that was about to collapse. Eventually, they were able to contain and later put out the blaze.
Officials say the restaurant is a total loss as a result. An investigation has begun into the cause of the fire.
