Drivers in Fort Lauderdale can expect a detour next week. The East Las Olas Boulevard Bridge will close overnight on Tuesday due to construction, FDOT officials said on Thursday.
All lanes on the bridge will close beginning at 9 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday at 6 a.m.
All eastbound traffic will be detoured to Sunrise Boulevard via US 1 and westbound traffic will be diverted to Sunrise Boulevard via A1A.
Officials say the construction is part of a $5.8 million rehabilitation project that will improve the bridge’s concrete decks, pedestrian and traffic railings, aluminum sidewalks, painting of the interior and exterior of the bridge and repaving and re-striping portions of Las Olas Boulevard.
