Missing Elderly Couple, Both With Alzheimer's, Dementia, Found: Police

An elderly husband and wife who were reported missing and feared to be in danger as they both suffer from Alzheimer's and Dementia and require medication have been found, Pembroke Pines Police confirm.

Sylvan Roden, 85, and his wife Sydell Roden, 83, are both residents of Century Village located at 1000 SW 125th Ave. in Pembroke Pines.

The couple had been last seen on Wednesday morning driving their 2005 beige Toyota 4-door Corolla with Florida tags YOSXY.

Sunpass records show their car passing through the Golden Glades at about 11:30 Thursday morning and again through the Florida Turnpike south extension at Southwest 8th Street.

They were found around 4:45 p.m. at a gas station in the area of 167th Street and Northwest 37th Avenue in Miami Gardens, police said.

Son Roy Roden said it's unusual for his parents to leave home. He last saw his parents at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, but when he got to their house at 11 p.m. they weren't there.

"I went to their room and they were both missing and they're never out, never," he said. "Mom takes pain pills, dad's had three or four heart attacks. And they're both under a lot of medication and they take them daily."

A Silver Alert and statewide alert were issued Thursday. Pembroke Pines police feared the couple could be in danger as they both require daily medication.

Mr. Roden is 5'9" and weighs 200 pounds with white hair and blue eyes. Mrs. Roden is 5'2" and 100 pounds, also with white hair and blue eyes.

"They need to be home as soon as possible so we can take care of them," Roy Roden said.
