Elderly Man With Dementia Rescued From Canal

An elderly man with dementia was rescued by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Sunday after falling into a canal.

Officials said they responded a report of an adult man in the water. Once rescue crews arrived, a rescue swimmer brought the man to shore.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

It was later discovered that the man was an elderly male with dementia who had gone missing earlier that evening.

His identity has not yet been released.
