Emaciated Animals Rescued in Southwest Miami-Dade

Six horses, two cows and an emu taken to rescue ranch

Animal activists said Monday that they rescued nine emaciated and starving animals over the weekend.

The South Florida Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals found a stray horse, who had life-threatening injuries. The horse was found at 14041 SW 197th Ave.

Five more horses, two cows and an emu found at 15100 SW 205th Ave, also on the brink of starvation.

They also discovered a dead horse and cow at the property on 205th Avenue.

The two locations that officials responded to Sunday were four blocks away from the property where they rescued 11 horses and a dog, and found eight dead horses on March 4.

In the month of March alone, the SFSPCA seized 26 horses, and currently possess over 60 horses.

The nine animals saved yesterday are being treated at the rescue ranch where they are receiving food, water, and medical care.

They are looking for donations and support from the community to provide proper care for the animals.
