A former bookkeeper for a church in the Florida Panhandle will serve 20 years of probation after pleading no contest to forging 138 checks worth $38,849.
The News Herald of Panama City reports 38-year-old Kelli Elane Space was sentenced Monday.
She was arrested in April after authorities say she forged checks at Parker United Methodist Church over a six-month period.
Parker police detective Aaron Wilson wrote in a report Space cashed the checks at Walmart and Tyndall Federal Credit Union and the offenses were caught on video.
Court records indicate Space plans to appeal the ruling.
