Family of NW Miami-Dade Hit and Run Victim Pleading For Help in Finding Driver

A South Florida woman is making a desperate plea to find the driver who left her brother to die on the side of a Miami-Dade road in an exclusive interview with NBC 6.

Surveillance video showed 39-year-old David Fernandez appearing to cross Northwest 72nd Avenue near 64th Street on the night of March 30th. Moments later a car struck and killed him.

Fernandez’s sister says the family is begging for someone to come forward to help catch that driver – and is upset it took hours for someone to report he had been hit.

“We’re heartbroken, the kids are heartbroken… everyone’s going crazy,” Damaris Arias said. “We don’t even know how to move on from this.”

Police think the car that struck Fernandez is a black Nissan Sentra, which now has extensive damage to the right passenger side.

Anyone with information that can lead to an arrest is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
