Family Pleads for Help in Solving Fatal Homestead Hit and Run

The family of a man who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bicycle in Homestead is asking for the public's help in finding his killer.

Joe Edward Torres was riding his bicycle near the intersection of Krome Avenue and Mowry Drive around 6:45 a.m. Saturday when he was hit by an SUV. The vehicle fled the scene.

Torres, 29, was killed at the scene. His family will give more information along with police at a 2 p.m. news conference Tuesday.

Police describe the vehicle involved as a silver or gray small SUV with possible damage to the front left corner, hood and windshield.
