FAMU Reaches Tentative Agreement on Union Raise, Bonuses

Florida A&M University has reached a tentative agreement with its faculty union on retroactive raise and bonuses.

The Tallahassee Democrat reports that the agreement reached late last week between FAMU and the United Faculty of Florida would give faculty a 1.5 percent pay increase that is retroactive to August 2014. It also includes a one-time bonus payment of $250 to all members that were employed on Aug. 1, 2014, and 1 percent bonus to all union members continuously employed as full professors at FAMU for 10 years.

The agreement, which is subject to the approval of the union approval, also allows for the creation of a committee to develop a school-wide evaluation process.

FAMU president Elmira Mangum called it a positive step in the school's long-term viability.
