Two Lanes of I-95 Reopen After Fatal Crash Between Tractor Trailers in Palm Beach County

What to Know

  • Crews have not released the name of the person killed and have said the lanes should re-open between 11 a.m. and noon.

A fatal Thursday morning crash involving two tractor trailers closed a section of I-95 southbound for several hours in Palm Beach County.

NBC affiliate WPTV-TV says the crash occurred just before 5 a.m. near Boynton Beach, with parts of the fire continuing for another hour before finally being put out.

Officials from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement report their initial investigation shows one of the trucks rear ended the other, causing the crash and fire to take place – essentially melting the trucks together and hampering removal efforts.

Crews have not released the name of the person killed. Two lanes of the roadway reopened to drivers around 10 a.m.
