Fatal Crash on I-75 Shuts Northbound Lanes

The northbound lanes of I-75 at U.S. 27 were closed due to a fatal crash Thursday, officials said.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-75 when the driver somehow lost control and veered into the westbound lanes, hitting two cars.

The two cars veered into the shoulder and struck a power pole, which split and was leaning over the westbound lane.

The driver of the first car was killed at the scene. The other two drivers were taken to nearby hospitals, where their conditions were unknown.

Power company workers were at the scene Thursday afternoon to assess the stability of the power lines.
