Woman Killed When Shot in Face, Chest: Miami Police

The man who shot her, likely an ex-boyfriend, is considered armed and dangerous, police said

A 42-year-old woman was killed when she was shot in the face and chest in Little Havana Friday, Miami Police said.

Police identified her Friday night as Ariadna Gonzalez Campa. She was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where she died, they said.

Police said they believe the man who shot her is an ex-boyfriend, Efrain Quintana. The 42-year-old man fled in an SUV and is considered armed and extremely dangerous, according to police.

Quintana confronted and taunted Gonzalez Campa alongside the sidewalk on SW 8th Avenue, then shot her multiple times in front of La Milagrosa Pharmacy and Discount at 444 SW 8th Ave. at about 2:30 p.m., police said.

Many people on the sidewalk witnessed the shooting, police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said.

A woman who answered the phone at the pharmacy said that the victim had just left there when they heard a boom and their windows shattered.

Isabel Nicolas, the pharmacy owner's mother, said the victim had been shopping inside. Moments after she exited, Nicolas heard what she thought was a rock being thrown at the door.

"'It's not a rock, it's a gunshot,’ someone said, β€˜don't go outside,’” Nicolas recounted.

Police said a man who may have been the victim’s son was at the scene. He shook uncontrollably as police and relatives attempted to calm him.

"He was saying they shoot her, they shot her, and he was crying, and her face was all red,” Joselyn Calderon said.

The man was "freaking out," she added.
