Grass Fire Contained in Southwest Miami-Dade

Firefighters battled a grass fire in southwest Miami-Dade for three hours before getting the blaze contained.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the two-alarm fire started just before 1:30 p.m. in the area of SW 117th Avenue and 226th Street. Firefighters contained the fire to 50 acres.

Fire officials originally planned to evacuated several area homes, but were able to contain the fire without the need for evacuations.

No injuries were reported.
