Man Critically Injured in Coconut Creek Trailer Home Fire

A man was critically injured after two mobile homes went up in flames Monday morning in Coconut Creek

Firefighters with Coconut Creek and Margate Fire Departments responded to the trailer home blaze at 6535 Northwest 34th Avenue and 6543 Northwest 34th Avenue around 5:30 a.m., Coconut Creek Police said.

Officers who were first on the scene said the two adjoining mobile homes were fully engulfed in flames but the residents were already evacuated.

The fire was contained to just the two homes and took about 90 minutes to control.

One of the homeowners, 65-year-old John Sutton, suffered from smoke inhalation and was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center with second-degree burns. Fire officials said he was in critical condition.

The resident of the second mobile home, 81-year-old Gwendolyn Booma, wasn't injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
