Fishermen Find $2.5 Million Worth of Cocaine Floating in the Water: Deputies

Five fishermen found $2.5 million worth of cocaine in the waters off of Destin in north Florida, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said.

The fishermen found a large package floating in the water in the Gulf of Mexico and pulled it into their boat, according to the sheriff’s office.

After finding many individually wrapped packages, the fisherman called authorities.

“The Drug Task Force collected and processed the bale and determined that it contained 25 kilograms of cocaine,” the statement said.

The cocaine is valued at $100 per gram, totaling $2.5 million, deputies said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
