After months spent rehabbing from a variety of injuries, five juvenile sea turtles will be released back into the water on Wednesday.
Each of the turtles is between the ages of two and five, while three of them were rescued from piers in both Dania Beach and Deerfield Beach. They were transported to Miami Seaquarium, with the first one named “Presley” coming in April with a hook inside of him that had to be removed.
The other two, named “Springsteen” and “Clapton”, arrived in May and June to start their rehab. Two more turtles also arrived last month, as “Trisha” arrived after being rescued in Boca Raton and “Jagger”, who was struck by a boat, arrived from Melbourne Beach.
The five turtles will be loaded into transportation vehicles and transferred to Bill Baggs State Park on Key Biscayne, where they will be returned by to the water and likely return to their homes.
