Fleeing Robber Shot at Store Clerk: BSO

An Oakland Park convenience store clerk is lucky to be alive after being shot at by a fleeing robber.

The incident happened Wednesday night at the Farm Store at 4420 Northeast 1st Terrace, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

Authorities said the man walked into the store and asked the 23-year-old clerk for a soda then pulled out a gun and demanded cash when the clerk started to ring him up.

The suspect fled with the soda and about $100. The clerk went outside and saw the suspect running away, and the suspect turned back and fired a shot at the clerk.

The clerk wasn't injured.

Officials said the man was about 5-foot-2 and wearing a red shirt and Chicago Bulls hat. He left in a cream-colored Nissan sedan.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
