Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi Apologizes for Execution Delay

She repeatedly called her decision to delay Marshall Lee Gore's execution because it conflicted with a campaign fundraiser wrong and apologized

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is finally speaking about her decision to delay the execution date of a convicted killer.

Bondi on Tuesday made her first substantive public comments about the incident since it was revealed Gov. Rick Scott delayed the execution of Marshall Lee Gore because it conflicted with a Bondi campaign fundraiser.

Scott has said he delayed the execution at Bondi's request but did not know the reason.

She repeatedly called her decision wrong and apologized. Bondi also vowed that it would never happen again.

The attorney general did not say who requested the execution delay. But Bondi said her staff was aware of the reason for the delay.

Gore is now scheduled to die by lethal injection on Oct. 1.
