Florida Authorities Make Arrest in 32-Year-Old Murder Case

Authorities in Florida say they used a national DNA database to track down a man they believe murdered a woman 32 years ago.

Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said Thursday that deputies had arrested 50-year-old Danny Emitt. He's facing charges of first-degree premeditated murder and burglary for the 1986 killing of Eveline Aguilar in her apartment in Winter Park, Florida.

Emitt was arrested Wednesday night in Knoxville, Tennessee. His case hadn't been filed with the clerk's office online yet, so there was no listing for an attorney.

A warrant for Emitt's arrest was filed after his DNA sample matched evidence from the 32-year-old case. Emitt had previously given the sample to the police in Melbourne, Florida, for an unrelated rape case for which he never faced arrest.
