Florida Chihuahua Lost in New Year's Eve Crash Reunited With Owner

Flagler County Sheriff's Office

A Chihuahua named Max is back with his owner after going missing following a car crash on New Year's Eve.

The 6-year-old dog's owner, who wasn't identified in a post on the Flagler County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, was involved in car crash last Tuesday morning in Bunnell, in north Florida. Max ran from the accident scene and his owner couldn't find him.

Detectives and the dog owner returned to the scene of the crash every day after the crash, but they couldn't track down Max, officials said. They searched for Max and left food for him in case he returned to the area.

When they went to the site on Saturday, Max was there. Sheriff's officials posted the video of the reunion on Facebook.

“Oh my God," the owner said when Max ran to him. “You smell terrible. But you're such a good boy."

Investigators don't know much about Max's adventure, but they were happy to help the dog find his owner.
