Birthdays just aren't the same without a cake - or at least that's what a young girl from North Florida thought when she decided to send one to her mother in heaven.

Jessica Graham died two years ago and Saturday would have been her 30th birthday. In grand style, her now four year old daughter Bella was able to ship a cake thanks to local Post Office employees in her hometown of Edgewater, near Daytona Beach.

“They mail hundreds of thousands of letters to Santa Claus every year, so heaven wasn't that much further” said Laura Fisher, Jessica’s mother and Bella’s grandmother who bakes cakes for a living and helped to organize the event.

Fisher works to keep the memories alive for Bella – and for her, birthdays are big.

"She started expressing concern that mommy wouldn't have a birthday cake in heaven,” Fisher said.

Fisher reached out to the Edgewater branch post office, and after she and Bella and extended family whipped up a cake, they brought it in to mail it. Workers even opened up a special line for them.

"They said ‘this line was for people shipping to heaven only’,” said Fisher. “They put a stamp on it, they guaranteed her that the cake would arrive before mommy's birthday.”

Fisher says employees were wonderful giving Bella the gift of time and attention and letting Bella send her gift to mom.

“She was so happy, she gave me a high five,” Fisher said. “She was like ‘Mommy's going to have a birthday cake, she's going to have a party’. They have no idea how much it meant to her to be able to do that for her mom.”
