Florida Inmate Escapes From Work Detail

Authorities say they've received information that leads them to believe a prisoner who escaped from a work detail in Pasco County is no longer in the area.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says 27-year-old Jason Adams walked away after taking a bathroom break on Monday while working in the Lutz area north of Tampa.

The Tampa Tribune reports Adams' blue striped prison uniform was found, so authorities believe he either changed clothes or is in his underwear.

Sheriff Chris Nocco says Adams has relatives in Titusville and the search has been expanded outside of Pasco County.

According to the Department of Corrections website, Adams was sentenced to several years in prison last fall for burglary and grand theft charges.
