What to Know
- For the 2nd year in a row, the Sunshine State is home to the best beach in the country, according to TripAdvisor’s list of top beaches.
- Seven of the top 10 beaches featured in the yearly report are also in Florida.
Once again, Florida is king of the beaches.
For the second year in a row, the Sunshine State is home to the best beach in the country, according to TripAdvisor’s list of top beaches in the United States. Not only that, but seven of the top 10 beaches featured in the yearly report are in Florida.
So, what Florida beach took the coveted number one spot?
Clearwater Beach was deemed the best in the nation, noted for its “sugar fine white sand” and spontaneous dolphin sightings. Panama City Beach was the 2nd Florida beach on the list (3rd overall), and was recognized for its snow-like shore that “isn’t cold.”
Ka’anapali Beach in Lahaina, Hawaii was named the 2nd best beach in the country. But Florida’s St. Pete Beach, Pensacola Beach and Siesta Beach took the 4th, 5th, and 6th spots (respectively) before Hawaii swooped in again and snagged the 7th spot on the list (Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area in Puako).
St. Augustine Beach grabbed the 8th placement on the list, while South Florida’s very own Fort Lauderdale Beach came in at number nine.
Local
“Iconic Beach…a Bucket List Item for most Americans,” the report said of Fort Lauderdale Beach.
While some of South Florida’s other iconic beaches didn’t make TripAdvisor’s top 10, they weren’t too far behind. South Beach – a staple of the Miami Beach community – came in at number 14 (“paradise in the middle of party central”) with Hollywood Beach following right behind at number 15.
