Florida Keys Couple Arrested for Not Paying $10,000 Worth of Hotel Bills

Police arrested a Key Largo couple after they failed to pay more than $10,000 in hotel bills.

Lee Thomas Roe, 36, and Ashley Roe, 34, were charged with grand theft of at least $10,000.

According to police, the two were staying at a Hampton Inn in Key Largo. The couple stayed at the hotel on five separate occasions, totaling $10,155.09 in charges.

Police were called to the hotel on December 18. The hotel manager told police that the couple was part of the hotel’s rewards program, which entitles them to not have to provide credit card information when they check in and are only required to show photo ID.

Once the couple provided credit card information, the manager contacted the credit card company, who said they wouldn’t be paying the bill because the card was reported stolen.

The manager could not get in touch with the couple. That’s when they tried getting in touch with Roe via Facebook Messenger. But once they did so, Roe blocked them.

The manager said Roe wasn’t trying to resolve the issue, which is when they called police.

On Saturday, police found the couple at a residence near Mile Marker 100.

They were arrested and taken to jail.
