Florida Keys Man, 78, Accused of Threatening Driver With Gun After Crash

Moises Pedro Arguez was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated assault, illegally carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon and ammunition by a convicted felon

A 78-year-old Florida Keys man is facing charges after authorities said he displayed a handgun and threatened to shoot another motorist who read-ended him during a road rage incident.

Moises Pedro Arguez was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated assault, illegally carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon and ammunition by a convicted felon, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said the victim told them he was driving on Card Sound Road in Key Largo when he accidentally rear-ended a GMC truck, and the two people inside the truck got out and started yelling.

The driver, later identified as Arguez, was touching a handgun that was tucked in his waistband and threatened to shoot the other driver, authorities said.

Arguez and his passenger then got in the truck and drove away. The other driver gave a deputy a description of the truck and the truck was later found in Marathon.

Officials said a loaded handgun was found in the truck's center console, and Arguez admitted the gun was his. When deputies searched his criminal history, they found that Arguez had been sentenced to serve 20 years in federal prison on cocaine related charges in 1988.

Arguez was booked into jail, where he remained without bond Friday. Attorney information wasn't available.
